Weird and Wacky Wednesday: Volume 185

This week on Weird and Wacky Wednesdays, we start in Florida, where a man used a Netflix show as his reasonings behind the shrooms found in his car, then another Florida drug case where he tried to use the excuse that his meth was in fact breath mints. And then we end here in BC, where a woman was shocked after discovering a man had been considering her car his home for several days.

Follow the jump to learn more about this week’s weirdest and wackiest legal cases from the world!

Netflix made me do it!

Tv shows these days have gotten a lot more realistic; however, that doesn’t mean I’m going to go around attempting to drive my car off a cliff because I saw it happen in a Fast and Furious movie.

But one man in Florida thought using the ‘because I saw it on Netflix’ excuse was the way to go. After the man was pulled over for driving in an unregistered truck, police smelt marijuana coming from the car and searched it.

During the search, they found more weed, along with 3 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, aka shrooms. That’s when his excuse of ‘I saw them on a tv show and wanted to try them’ came out.

It looks like that excuse didn’t seem to fly with the police because he was charged with a misdemeanour and felony drug possession counts.

Would you like a mint?

Our next story is also out of Florida and also involves drugs. Police pulled over the man after one of the officers recognized him and knew his licences had been revoked.

They searched the car and found his backpack, where they found a baggie of meth. However, according to the man, the meth was not meth, but in fact, it was breath mints. Likely story.

Another excuse that clearly did not work, as he was charged with possession of methamphetamine and fentanyl, along with driving without a license.

Um, how did you get in my trunk?

We end off this week’s Weird and Wacky Wednesday here in our province of British Columbia, where just last week, a woman discovered a man who had been living in the trunk of her car for three days.

She says she initially noticed some dirt on a seat in the car and assumed someone had broken in but thought nothing really of it.

It wasn’t until a few days later when she noticed a fogged-up window and someone saying ‘hey’ to her, that she realized someone was still in the trunk of her car.

She managed to film the man’s discovery and posted it on TikTok, where it went viral.

Upon realizing there was a naked man in the back of her car, she called the police, who noted the man had ‘significant health issues and has since gotten him the help he needs.

I guess the moral of the story would be to make sure you always remember to lock your car doors, or else you too could end with an unexpected guest in the back seat.
