It’s not just Barbie who has trouble with the law

I can’t wait to see the Barbie movie. The hype over the last few months has me hooked. The aesthetics are compelling and the criticism by certain people on the right makes it seem like a film I will like. But I expect it will still be predictable. Weird and Wacky Wednesday blog posts are supposed to come out Wednesday morning, but we’re a little slow. Blame it on summertime. Things move more slowly maybe. We lose track of time. In our office we’re always busy in the summer but the days do seem to merge into one another. When Kyla Lee, a Vancouver criminal defence lawyer, was eight years old, she dreamed of being a writer when she grew up.

“I wrote stories and I sent them to publishers … like in pencil on loose-leaf paper and drew the illustrations myself,” she said, and added that publishers would often send her the nicest rejection letters back. “If I could get in a time machine, I’d be like, ‘don’t worry – you will publish a children’s book one day.’”
