The B.C. government’s 2026 budget announced a series of tax increases, capital project delays, and a reduction of 15,000 public sector jobs over three years.
“I don’t think it’s the correct trade-off. I accept that in these times right now any budget is likely going to have a deficit…. I don’t think the trade-offs they’re making for the deficit are the right ones… I think it’s putting the weight of these deficits on the backs of the poorest British Columbians.”
