Weird and Wacky Wednesdays: Volume Eighty Seven

This week on Weird and Wacky Wednesdays, we learn about the greatest cannabis legalization hero of our time. Then, we look at what not to do if you miss your flight and how not to have a super privileged freakout at an airport. Finally, we learn from a foolish mistake made by a man with some unlawful content on his computer.

Follow the jump to learn more about this week’s weirdest and wackiest legal cases from around the globe.

A Hero Walks Among Us
Many cannabis industry activists remember the days, prior to legalization, where brave cannabis warriors sacrificed themselves to show the inherent stupidity of the cannabis laws. They smoked publicly, trafficked openly, and generally advocated for the legalization of cannabis products.

But none of them come close to the heroics of this man.

Spencer Boston took the legal cannabis fight to Tennessee’s court. Literally. While being sentenced on a cannabis possession charge, Boston claimed that the substance should be legalized. He began to explain his position in support of his case, and punctuated his argument by taking a joint out of his jacket pocket, lighting it, and taking a few tokes before he was apprehended and taken into custody.

He’s now serving ten days in jail for contempt of court and is facing further cannabis possession and disorderly conduct charges. Something tells me the attention he’s getting means that his point has been made.

Rock on, Spencer.

How Not to Miss Your Flight
In one of the world’s most unrelateable incidents ever, a woman in Phoenix missed her flight. You see, she was spending too much time enjoying the comforts of the airport lounge to realize that her flight was boarding. By the time she got to the gate to claim her first-class seat, the doors to the plane had already closed.

Undeterred, the woman demanded that she either be let on the plane or her bag removed. When the airline refused to do either, she responded like any rational white lady used to hearing “yes” all the time would. She leaned in and told the gate agent that there was a bomb in her bag.

Even though she was obviously a desperate fool, the entire Sky Harbour terminal was evacuated and planes grounded thanks to this one woman’s threat. The best part? She didn’t make that flight and it is doubtful she’ll ever make any more in the future.

Giving Over Evidence
You’d think it should go without saying, but if you have images on your computer that are illegal, your best course of action is probably not to hand over that computer to people who are going to report you for having them.

And yet, that’s what this one Florida man did.

The Geek Squad in Florida called police after locating a series of illicit pornographic images on a man’s computer while performing repairs. He is now arrested and facing child pornography charges. This is one case where it seems that the right ending was somehow obtained, despite the weird circumstances that led to the discovery of the evidence.
