This week on Weird and Wacky Wednesday an Ontario man was caught with a pile of open alcohol in his car, an Ottawa police officer was caught stealing groceries and a Florida man cracked a beer in the middle of a police stop.

Most people who have their driver’s license know that it is illegal to have open alcohol stored in your car within reaching distance while you are driving. One bottle or can is more than enough to get you into trouble, so what about an entire mountain of open beer cans in the passenger seat?
Well, an Ontario man found out the hard way that it will in fact lead to numerous charges, including operation while impaired. The reason he was even caught in the first place was that the police had set up a ride check.
It was the middle of the day too, and after the fact, the local police department tweeted out this is one of the reasons they do ride checks in the middle of the day.
Are you gonna pay for those groceries?
Shoplifting has become more and more common in recent years with the introduction of self-checkouts at most stores. but with such an increase in shoplifting has also come an increase of measures put into place to prevent it from happening.
You would think more than anyone the police would be aware of the strict laws around shoplifting and avoid doing such a thing. But for one Ottawa police officer, maybe she thought her familiarity with the crime would make it easier for her to get away with it.
Unfortunately for her, that was not the case, and instead of getting away with free groceries, she was caught and is being demoted within the police department for 14 months.
This is not the best time for a beer
After all the stories we hear weekly coming out of Florida have just convinced me the people of Florida are a different level of crazy. And another story coming out of the state again this week just seems to convince me of this.
After spotting a car parked in the middle of the road, police approached the car to see if it was just left there unattended, but there was in fact a man sitting in the vehicle, with beer cans all around the floor of his car.
He was so drunk he couldn’t even speak to the police, and in fact, while they were still standing beside his car, the man proceeded to open another can of beer! Like I said above, the people in Florida are just a different level of crazy!
