Stand me up once and I’ll sue you

I’m sure most people have had an experience where they’ve been on a date from hell, but what would you do if you skipped a date altogether and were served papers saying the date you stood up was suing you for $10,000.

That is what happened in Michigan, where a woman filed a lawsuit in 2020 suing her would-be date for intentional infliction of emotional distress. She said he knew he was going to hurt her when he didn’t show up for the date.

The judge and the woman quickly budded heads during the virtual hearing, as the judge believed she had brought the matter to the wrong court, and that he could not make a decision on the lawsuit.

In the end, the judge transferred the case to what he believed to be the correct level of court. apparently, this isn’t the first time this woman has filed some pretty bizarre lawsuits though, and I bet it’s safe to assume it won’t be her last!

Wanting candy is NOT an emergency

Yet another story of a Florida man being arrested, and this time it was after he called the police to let them know his girlfriend wanted Sour Patch Kids.

Yes, that’s right, he didn’t call for something like she threatened him over the candy, or that a store wouldn’t sell the candy to him, nope. The affidavit doesn’t reveal the exact reason he called 911 just to let them know she wanted the sour candies.

The man was charged with misuse of the 911 system and obstruction after he struggled and resisted when the police tried to cuff him.

Maybe he will have learned his lesson that next time instead of calling 911 when his girlfriend declares she wants a certain candy, he realizes he can just drive to the store himself and pick some up.

Don’t bring a sword to a gunfight

A police officer in Spotsylvania, Virginia had no choice but to use his gun after he was charged at by a man holding a sword.

You read that right, no not a knife, but an actual old fashion 32-inch sword. The man has since been charged with attempted malicious wounding of a law enforcement officer.

The police were called to the house of the man by his family who said he was threatening people with the sword. I’d personally like to know where the guy got this sword and if he actually knew how to use it!
