Weird and Wacky Wednesdays: Volume 350

Cartoon scene showing rogue cyclists involved in wild acts—slashing a police tire, fighting a delivery driver, and robbing an elderly woman.

This week on Weird and Wacky Wednesdays: When Cyclists Go Rogue

This week on Weird and Wacky Wednesdays, we turn our focus to bicycles. Not the kind that quietly glide through parks or get people to work in the sunshine, but the ones caught up in bizarre crimes. As the weather warms up and people start riding more, we’re reminded that cyclists—like anyone else—can lose their cool, act out, or just plain cross the line.

Tire Trouble in Atlanta: Cyclist Slashes Police Cruiser

On February 25, 2025, a cyclist in Atlanta made headlines after slashing the tire of a police car parked at the Old Fourth Ward Skate Park. Surveillance footage shows the man arriving on a BMX-style bike, hopping off casually, and stabbing one of the patrol car’s tires. He then calmly rides off into the distance.
The footage was released by the Atlanta Police Department, which has been asking for help identifying the suspect. There was no confrontation and no explanation—just a silent attack on a parked cruiser. Whether this was a personal statement or a prank, it’s clear the cyclist came prepared.

Food Fight in Canterbury: JustEat vs. Domino’s

Meanwhile, across the pond in Canterbury, England, a delivery turf war played out in real time on the streets. In late April 2025, a JustEat cyclist was filmed pinning a Domino’s Pizza delivery driver against a car. The footage shows the cyclist dismounting, yelling, and physically forcing the other man back.
The cause of the dispute isn’t confirmed, but witnesses said the cyclist was angry that the Domino’s car had parked too close to the bike lane. This turned into a shouting match and then a shoving match, with bystanders stepping in to separate the two. Both companies issued statements saying the behaviour didn’t reflect their values, but it may be the first time we’ve seen a high-calorie delivery rivalry go full-contact.

Violent Robbery in South Australia: Elderly Woman Targeted

And in a much darker story from March 2025, a cyclist in Brooklyn Park, South Australia, committed a violent robbery against an elderly woman. CCTV captured the moment an 84-year-old woman was walking home with groceries when a man on a bike rode up behind her, shoved her to the ground, and stole her shopping bag.
The woman was left bruised and shaken but did not require hospitalization. Police released the footage and appealed for information about the suspect, who fled the scene before help could arrive. While the motive remains unclear, the method was swift, cruel, and calculated.

June is Bicycling Month, and you’ll hear a lot about how great bikes are for the environment and for personal health. All of that is true. But as these stories show, riding a bike doesn’t make someone better. It just makes them faster when they flee the scene.
