This week on Weird and Wacky Wednesdays, we look into the case of a woman who was accused of doping in a very unexpected sport. Then, we examine how a police officer really, really messed up his breathalyzer training session. Finally, we look at the greatest video of a woman trashing a grocery store of all time and speculate on the possible motive.

Police Officer Fails Breathalyzer During Training Demonstration
Many people have shown up to work drunk. That’s certainly not something, barring additional wacky details, to get one featured on this blog series. But among those who show up to work drunk, most do not voluntarily take a breathalyzer test. And most of those people do not voluntarily do so in the course of being trained how to administer the breathalyzer.
Unfortunately, for one Detroit Police officer, it appears that alcohol impaired his better judgment here. The officer, who was attending a training session on the Datamaster breathalyzer, volunteered to take a breathalyzer test as part of the training session. He then blew over the legal limit.
Thankfully, the officer had not driven to work that day and so he was not investigated for a criminal offence. However, there was an internal investigation opened against him… for good reason.
Come to think of it – I have seen this once before. An Abbotsford officer blew into a roadside breathalyzer and failed the test. Of course, rather than taking the officer off duty, they took the device out of service instead.
A Serious Case of Doping
Professional sports litigation is a very nuanced, but heavily litigated area of law. Professional athletes who are accused of doping stand to lose tournament prizes, medals, sponsorships, and endorsement deals. And so there is a huge incentive to them to pursue with vigour a defence to any claim that they were involved in doping. But one case of alleged doping has many people, including me, scratching their heads. The World Bridge Federation – yes a card game played through the newspaper or by the elderly in seniors homes – recently suspended a player after it conducted an investigation and found that the player had tested positive for performance enhancing drugs. Which begs the question, how the heck is Bridge so serious that they require an anti-doping team? And what drug could possibly enhance performance in a card game?
This is very interesting. Who knew that the world of anti-doping litigation in professional sports extended this far.
You Have to Watch The Video
Seriously, watch this video. It says it all.A woman in New York apparently gave absolutely no fucks, as she attended a convenience store. She walked to the fridge and selected a bottle of vitamin water. She then proceeded to throw a bunch of energy drinks on the floor. She walked down an aisle, pulling the entire shelf contents off the shelf as she went. She grabbed a can of Pringles, then took them calmly to the till, where she proceeded to throw Five Hour Energy shots on the floor. She paid for her items and left. Not a word was spoken.
Whatever happened to trigger this must have been serious. It reminds me of a certain scene in Crazy Ex Girlfriend. But whatever it was – nothing beats the sheer chill of the woman who silently destroyed the store but still had the common sense not to steal.
