Today on Radio NL News Mornings with Jeff & Bill: Police now need a warrant to get a person’s IP address

The Supreme Court of Canada made a key privacy ruling Friday that means police must now first have a warrant or court order to obtain the numbers making up a person or organization’s IP address. 

“I was surprised at the ruling and I was surprised at the way the Supreme Court of Canada is treating our rights to privacy in Canada.”

“…your IP address can be used to find out all sorts of information about what you’re doing on the internet, other sites you’ve visited… Which can ultimately reveal your identity or very core details about you.”
