Today on Radio NL News Mornings with Jeff Andreas: B.C. woman ordered to pay ex $450 for Coldplay tickets

A British Columbia woman has been ordered to pay her former romantic partner $450 for her ticket to attend a Coldplay concert together on what she said she believed was a date.

But the province’s Civil Resolution Tribunal says in a ruling that there was no evidence Michael Stolfi intended the ticket to be a gift to Alyssa Randles, and that instead it was a loan that the woman had to repay.

“…the tribunal essentially looked at the law around when something is a gift versus when something is a loan. If you are alleging that something is a gift and you don’t have to pay another person back, you bear the burden of proving that this was a gift… And because there wasn’t a lot of evidence to support her case… the tribunal wasn’t able to find that it was a gift…”
