Kyla Lee spoke to Mark Brennae about proposed changes to drunk driving legislation.
The Provincial Government has included some changes to alcohol-impaired driving provisions in a new law addressing cannabis-impaired driving.
Ms. Lee described the alterations as “disturbing”.
“It really doesn’t make any sense,” she said. “Because we already have legislation in the different sections of the Motor Vehicle Act for prohibitions to start immediately.
“So there’s no need to change the existing legislation that starts 21 days later to make it start immediately. If the police want a person to be off the road right away, use the (IRP) immediate roadside prohibition, not the (ADP) administrative driving prohibition.”
