Not so happy new year

New year’s parties are supposed to be a time to gather with friends and strangers to say goodbye to one year and hello to the next. But for one Ohio woman, her new year was not off to a great start after she was arrested at a bar in Florida for a felony battery.

The arrest came after she threw a plastic new years hat directly into the face of a police officer, who was at the bar questioning her husband about a reported battery.

After she threw the hat, officers went to arrest her and her husband got involved resulting in his arrest too. It looks like it was not a great start to 2023 for this couple.

Turn it up!

We all have that driving playlist that we love to listen to in the car and sing our hearts out to. Well for a 19-year-old in Iowa, hearing a good song while driving resulted in him receiving a speeding ticket.

Police caught him going about 100 miles per hour, and when they stopped his car his reason for speeding was that a good song came on the radio.

And while he was pulled over and getting his licence out, police spotted marijuana in his glovebox, so not only has he been charged with speeding, but now also faces misdemeanour drug charges. Who would’ve thought hearing a good song could cause so much chaos?

No, you can not have pop as your drink

New Orleans just implemented a new law to start off the new year on a healthier note, and that means that kids’ meals are not allowed to be sold with pop as a drink option.

This is an effort to contribute to healthier lifestyle choices for children in the state, considering there is a 14% obesity rate in kids 2 to 4 there.

Restaurants in the state are expected to follow these new rules, and there are steps that have been put into place to ensure they are, including a warning for a second strike and a fine of $200.00 for a third.
