A Surrey city councillor is calling for better police access to the city’s traffic cameras. As Grace Ke reports, it comes amid growing public safety concerns as the city deals with ongoing extortion cases and their related shootings.
“Section 8 of the charter protects your right to privacy as part of the right to be free from reasonable search and seizure and generally speaking, when police engage in surveillance behaviour, there needs to be prior judicial authorization to protect that privacy right.”
