Mo Amir, host of the podcast This is VANCOLOUR, and Kyla Lee, a Vancouver criminal lawyer for Acumen Law Corporation, weigh in on B.C.’s new legislation to get social media to pay for the costs of public-health harms, the province pausing the University Transition Program, and how the Royal Family is communicating about Kate Middleton.
“…with tobacco and with opioids you can trace the specific harm and the specific health care cost to the specific cause, but with social media you’re dealing with anybody who accesses the platform who might have some harm, but who might also have depression… I think the causal link between social media and the harm the government is trying to get compensation for is going to be a lot more difficult.”
