Kyla Lee in The Province: Safety or cash grab? Speed cameras could wind up in court

“If you don’t tell people the threshold, a driver might see the speed-camera sign and slam on the brakes,” said Vancouver traffic-ticket lawyer Kyla Lee. “Now you have the risk of the driver behind them not reacting fast enough and rear-ending them. Or the driver might not brake properly and lose control of their vehicle.”

Vancouver impaired driving lawyer Kyla Lee appeared on the Charles Adler show last night to talk about the federal approval of the Abbott SoToxa, a drug testing device designed to detect THC in the system. Kyla Lee on Charles Adler Tonight about Impaired Canoeing

Vancouver impaired driving lawyer Kyla Lee appeared on the Charles Adler show to discuss the issue of impaired canoeing. A recent conviction involving a man who was in a canoe accident led to the court having to interpret whether a person can get an impaired driving charge while in a canoe. What really bugs me about the decision, which did find that a canoe is a vessel and therefore an impaired driving charge is possible, is that there is nothing to distinguish a canoe from a bicycle. The same public safety risk exists, the same human-powered propulsion exists, and yet you cannot be criminally charged for impaired bicycling.
