A woman in Canada could lose her license, among other punishments, after she was caught sleeping behind the wheel of her Tesla while on a highway.
Over the years, there have been plenty of promises of fully automated cars. Sci-fi movies and comic books made everyone believe that, at some point, you’d be able to tell your car where to go and it would do it without you needing ot be behind the wheel.
As it stands, there are a few players in the semi-automated car market, but they still come with a wheel and require human intervention where necessary. That’s why police still require drivers to be alert at all times.

A lawyer, Kyla Lee, told CBC that the woman could face punishments ranging from a $500 fine to losing her license altogether, especially if children were involved.
“There could also potentially be criminal charges related to negligence if there are children in the vehicle and those children are put at risk by the driver not supervising as the vehicle is travelling down the highway,” Lee told them.
