Three international students from India are convicted of first-degree murder for a horrific home invasion and killing of a couple in their 70s.
In this episode, Paul outlines some of the terrible details from the courtroom and talks to Vancouver lawyer Kyla Lee about the case along with some of the underlying legal issues at play.
“…it’s rare that there’s that much public interest in a particular case. Even though murders general attract a high level of public interest just because of their violent nature… I think there’s an element in this case unlike a lot of cases where you’re more likely to be killed by someone you know… This was someone these people barely knew… and that brings an element of ‘this could happen to anyone of us at any point’ that attracted a lot of attention.”
