B.C. Premier David Eby says OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has agreed to apologize to the people of Tumbler Ridge, B.C., after it emerged the AI giant didn’t report a mass shooter’s account to authorities. Also, B.C. is permanently adopting daylight time, making its “spring forward” on March 8 the last time change.
“…you can’t put the prevention of an incident like this on one party. Even if OpenAI had reported this to the police, police don’t just get a report and go bust down doors… It doesn’t work that way – they have to investigate it. It doesn’t mean this wouldn’t have happened. It doesn’t even mean that the police would have taken this report and then even done anything about it…”
